Universal Music Canada 2011-Present
Senior Manager, Marketing

Universal Music Canada is the world’s leading music company and a division of Universal Music Group. Universal Music Canada is home to both Canadian and international artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Tragically Hip, U2, Mumford & Sons, Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift.

Core responsibilities:
Canadian marketing, brand and product management lead for a roster of global priority artists including The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Bob Marley, The Who and Eric Clapton. Create plans and purchase national TV, print, radio and online advertising. Forecast and manage marketing budget and track spends. Develop strategic partnerships and promotions. Work with sales team to build plans and support retail initiatives. Represent International label partners, artists and artist management in front of sales and marketing team. Identify and research market trends, track performance and monitor competition.

Selected Accomplishments:
• Created and executed the Canadian marketing and promotional plans for The Eagles “History of the Eagles” DVD which resulted in a 10 times platinum sales status, 17 consecutive weeks in the number 1 chart position and placing Canada among the top 3 performing territories.
• Built and managed a $250k Canadian marketing budget for The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary release “GRRR!” which achieved multi-platinum sales status in Canada.
• Marketing lead on the Martin Scorsese feature film George Harrison “Living in the Material World” which surpassed global expectations and achieved 3 times platinum sales status in Canada.
• Created the Bachman-Turner Overdrive “40th Anniversary” CD, the first Canadian single artist compilation to be released globally by Universal Music Group
• Created and implemented a new online annual plan and supporting promotions via social media which grew the divisions online presence and social feeds by 100% within 1 year.

Vivendi Entertainment Canada (VEC) 2006-2011
Director of Marketing

VEC was owned by Universal Music Canada and part of Vivendi, the global media corporation, which has annual sales of $40 billion. Vivendi’s group of companies include: Universal Music, Activision Blizzard, CANAL +, SFR, and GVT. Founded in 2004, VEC was Canada’s leading, independent distributor of visual content. VEC was sold to E-one in 2011.

Core responsibilities:
In charge of all marketing, brand management and product development. Planned and purchased all national TV, print, online and out-of-home advertising. Key liaison for U.S. head office and U.S. partners. Key liaison for all domestic partners, broadcasters and digital partners. Developed strategic marketing partnerships across all owned and partner brands. Built and managed annual marketing plan, budget and marketing tools. Morning Star Entertainment 2003-2006
Marketing Manager

Morningstar Entertainment was a leading Canadian owned boutique distributor of Home Entertainment products.

Core responsibilities:
Planned and purchased national advertising for all products. Acted as key contact for U.S. partners and distributed labels. Managed the distribution and creation of sales materials. Designed print advertising and product information kits. Worked with creative vendors and supplied creative direction of packaging, DVD authoring and TV spots.

Canadian Music Network/Canadian Entertainment Network 2001-2003
Art Coordinator

Canadian Music and Entertainment Network were joint ventures with Group DKD and the Australian based Music Network Magazine. Both were trade magazines servicing the music and home entertainment industries.

Core responsibilities:
Key liaison between advertisers, printer and publisher. Contributed to editorial. Developed marketing tools and assisted monthly marketing plans. Created ads as needed.

Worked in various production assistant and coordinator roles for CBC, YTV, and the Juno Awards.
